Frequently asked questions about colour

frequently asked questions about colour
do you also have colour testers?
Yes, you can order individual painted colour samples from us. Hold a sample against your wall in different spots and look at the colour in daylight and artificial light. That way you discover which shade suits your room. A colour sample gives an impression of the colour; the surface, type of paint and sheen level can affect the final result. So paint a small test patch first. Already sure of your colour? Then you can order your paint straight away.

can I have other colours mixed in addition to your own?
We believe the fairf colours form a beautiful palette to choose from. View our colours online or order an individual painted colour sample to judge the shade in your own light. Should that one colour not be among them after all, we offer the option to order many other colours. Naturally made from the same paint as the fairf colours. We can arrange this in three ways:
1. your favourite colour is already in our system. We can then enter the order manually straight away and supply the paint.
2. the colour is not yet in our system - without colour guarantee. Based on a sample or colour reference (not digital), we measure this colour in our colour lab with a computer system, resulting in a colour recipe that approximates the actual colour. This recipe is then the basis of the fairf product we make to order for you.
3. the colour is not yet in our system - with colour guarantee. Here too we start with a sample or reference that we measure in our computer system. From this recipe we make a 0.5-litre sample pot containing the desired product in the colour you want. This sample pot is tested and compared with the colour you supplied. We send the pot to you so you can see it yourself or start using it. Because this is a time-consuming process, we charge 45 euros including VAT for it.
Making a custom colour just for you can take a little longer. So please be patient. But then you have a very special colour, made just for you! Would you like more information about mixing a colour? Send us a message.

the colour on my screen looks different, how is that possible?
Every screen displays colours differently. Want to see a colour at home? Choose an individual painted colour sample and hold it against your wall, furniture and floor at different times of the day. Your screen and a colour sample both give an indication of the colour and may differ from the final result. The surface, type of paint, sheen level and light also determine how a colour looks. We therefore recommend painting a small test patch first. View the available colour samples.
do any colour colours match the original colour?
With Any Colour we create a colour formula based on the original colour reference. Always assess the result in your own light and next to the original colour sample. A colour with the same name from another brand may differ. Ask us beforehand whether the chosen colour and base fall within a product certification.
do you also have white fairf?
Of course we have many ‘colours’ of white paint. Choosing the right one is often tricky: do you want a white white or more of a yellow white? What kind of surface are you going to paint? In a light or a dark room? View our white shades under colours & colour samples. You can order an individual painted colour sample of the available shades. Compare it in your own light and next to your furniture and floor. A sample helps you choose, but is no guarantee that the final result will be exactly the same. Still in doubt? Then we recommend ordering a small pot and testing the paint. Paint a piece of canvas. You can easily hold it against walls in several places in your home and at several times of the day to see what the light does with this colour.
what is the difference between white shades?
The RAL colours 9010 and 9001 are the best-known and most widely used variants of the colour white. RAL 9016 has been on the rise lately, together with RAL 9003. Although all these colours represent white, none of them is 100% white. Each code represents a specific colour, and that is the difference between these variations. Why do we talk about these variations in particular? Because they are the four best-selling whites from the RAL collection:
-
RAL 9016 - RAL 9016 is the whitest white of these variants. This white contains a little grey/blue. Because of its lightness, RAL 9016 is most popular on darker surfaces such as a ceiling, and for modern homes. The colour is just off pure white, but still feels warm.
-
RAL 9010 - This colour looks slightly yellower on truly white surfaces and is one shade darker than RAL 9016. For a nice fresh ceiling we would not recommend this colour, because there (as no light falls on the ceiling) it looks darker and slightly yellower than on the wall. In lacquer, the colour is a lovely warm white.
-
RAL 9003 - This variant is a lovely fresh white with a hint of grey. RAL 9003 is widely used today in modern new-build homes and is perfect for walls, ceilings and window frames.
-
RAL 9001 - The official name of this colour is cream white and, as the name suggests, it contains some ochre. Compared with RAL 9010, this colour has a more beige tint.
which sheen level should I choose?
Our lacquers are available in all colours and all sheen levels. For exterior woodwork we recommend choosing a high-gloss paint. The rule has long been: the higher the gloss, the longer a paint stays in good condition. Indoors you can choose whatever you find most beautiful. A matt finish is currently the trend indoors.my question is not listed
