Deep under the sea

deep in the sea
A nursery full of adventure
Few things are as magical as a world you know exists, but is difficult to visit. At least, that's what we think. Sure, you can get your scuba certification and see sea turtles up close. But for a child, that usually isn't an option yet. They have to make do with films like Finding Nemo and The Little Mermaid at first. Not a punishment! Because oh, how beautiful those films are. And on top of that, they ensure that children's imaginations are fed to their heart's content! Imagine if we brought that childlike imagination into the human world? Into the nursery, to be precise. That would be wonderful, wouldn't it? Here is how you can create a ‘deep in the sea’ themed nursery...

A wavy effect
For the sweet underwater effect, a wavy pattern was first created in this room. How? Very simple: by drawing wavy lines on the wall with a pencil and then applying a different colour to the top of the line than to the bottom. Lovely, right? The colours Olifant and Uil from our Beestenboel collection were used for this!

Lots of little animals
The underwater world is so much fun for children because, in addition to many crazy and magical-looking plants, a lot of interesting animals live there too. From a gigantic whale to a funny crab, and from a sweet starfish to a beautiful seahorse. In this room, you will find them all. Some are simply painted on the wall, others are laser-cut from wood, then painted and glued on! This literally adds more depth and a greater sensory experience. It's not easy for everyone, of course! But if you have good equipment at hand and dare to call yourself a handyman, it is absolutely worth it as far as we are concerned!

Furniture
Finally, you can make the furniture part of the whole by giving it a colour that also appears on the wall. Here we see, for example, how nicely a rattan chair is decorated with the colour Krab. When you start a furniture project, make sure to clean the piece thoroughly beforehand and then sand it lightly. This will make the paint adhere significantly better.

Swimming in stories
Once this room is finished, we can't think of anything more fun than coming up with a different story every night with your little one. Did Karen Crab have tea with Otto Octopus? And did Sila the Turtle just pass by to say that Zoe Starfish had been given magical powers? See, those are the better memories for when they are grown up!
