Oode Gallery - Amsterdam
Oode
You can find Galerie Oode in the heart of Amsterdam, on the Singel to be precise. At Oode, they collect art items that normally end up in storage once museums close. Orphaned art, as it is sometimes called. Because: they are looking for a new home. These handsome little orphans are given a new life at Galerie Oode – a colourful life, to be precise. Because the gallery walls are decorated with fairf paint. That’s how history and the future come together. Beautiful, isn't it?

At Oode, the owners want to show visitors—or actually, the whole world—the value of the beautiful, unique art items they have collected and give them a second life. First and foremost by exhibiting them in their own gallery, but also by keeping the sales prices low. Because, at Oode, they believe that art ultimately belongs in people’s homes.

The art at Oode mainly comes from the municipality of Utrecht, the Sikkens Museum, the municipality of Oss, Rotterdam, etc. Most of the art collected at Oode is Dutch. They say about it themselves: ‘When museums and institutions close, a lot of art ends up in storage. It’s a shame. Because that is how a large part of our heritage is lost. With Oode, we offer a countermovement, and this countermovement also immediately ensures that we can support young product designers. Something that is also very important to us.’ At Oode, they provide this support by combining art with contemporary design.

At Oode, collected art finds a new setting. fairf colours provide the backdrop that lets the works shine. A different wall colour can give a painting a whole new story. Step inside and discover the combination that speaks to you.
