A dream of a nursery

A dream of a nursery
This room is peaceful yet also playful
A nursery should be a place where your little one feels safe, can play happily, but most of all—please, please, pretty please—we want them to drift off to sleep beautifully and immerse themselves in a night full of sweet dreams. Soft, tranquil colours are highly recommended for this. But please, don't confuse tranquil and calm with boring! In this nursery, you can see how yellow and pink have been mixed with walnut wood and a somewhat greenish beige. To be exact, in this room you see the colours 'varken' (pig), 'flamingo', 'Kurt', and 'corn'. And all that in a stunningly beautiful mural. It is playful, colourful, and at the same time, you feel zen just looking at it. At least... that’s the effect this room has on us. Yes, you might be thinking now: amazing! But I could never do that, right? Well, we beg to differ. And below we tell you why we are convinced that you can do this too!

You can definitely paint panels neatly. But even the abstract work is doable for you, we truly believe that. Just go and play with it. Grab a pencil and draw some lines on the wall. Paint a branch or some leaves. And then draw a number of random lines. Especially not too neat. Finally, when you fill in all these shapes with colour, you will see an incredibly artistic result emerge on your wall in no time. You will surprise yourself, believe us! We are convinced of it!

How to keep it peaceful
Why does this playful and creative room still look so peaceful? There are several reasons for that. First of all, the cheerful colours are actually calm colours; powdery shades that complement each other. Additionally, the wainscoting is a very important element: it ensures that the bottom half of the wall contains only one shade, and because wainscoting also provides some relief, that dividing line becomes even clearer! And clarity equals peace. It’s as simple as that. Usually, anyway. In this case, definitely! A further minimalist decor helps, of course. Because a duvet with strawberries + a checkered bench would seriously disturb the peace in this room. With such a paint pattern, always choose one colour of wood for the furniture. In this example, you can see how both the bed and the window frames have a walnut colour, and it works. In our view, a nice addition: wicker/bamboo storage baskets for all the toys. An off-white rug in the shape of a little cloud on the floor would, in our opinion, complete the dreamy setting… Happy decorating!
